Morley Indians’ Diwali Event Shines Bright
On Saturday 9th November, Morley Indians hosted their 7th annual Diwali celebration at Woodkirk Academy, marking another memorable evening for over 300 attendees. The event’s success was a testament to the community’s unwavering support and collective spirit.
“Our aim is to bring our community together, introduce our children to Indian culture, and integrate with the local community by showcasing our rich heritage. We are proud to call Morley home, where we’ve been warmly welcomed and given opportunities to make a difference.”
Lalit Suryawanshi – Founder of Morley Indians
The evening showcased the vibrant cultural diversity of the Indian community in Morley and beyond, fostering a spirit of togetherness across Leeds. Morley Indians continue to bridge barriers of religion, region, and language, uniting the community as a force for cultural exchange.
A Night of Performances and Talent
The Diwali event truly came alive with a dazzling lineup of 25 carefully curated cultural performances. Spanning all age groups – from energetic kids as young as 5 to talented parents up to 50 – the evening showcased extraordinary talent that kept the audience captivated.

Such a memorable evening wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless efforts of Shikha, Mohit, Sudarshan, Shrinivas, Gaurav, Jitesh, Subhashish, Ricky, Rinky, Aniket, Yograj, Rajeev and all Morley Indians. Their dedication ensured a seamless and enjoyable celebration of culture and community spirit.
